tyrant in the middle east

NPR has a story about it almost every day during All Things Considered. CNN.com and other media outlets have literally hundreds of articles about it. The current White House administration seems to bring it up whenever they aren’t talking about how quickly the economy is going to shake its current “hangover.” I don’t follow US foreign policy that closely, so I may be missing an incident or two, but I think it is safe to say that this is one of the only times I can remember actually agreeing with something our national leaders are saying about the Middle East. Mainly, that there is a tyrant in that region of the world who needs to be stopped.

This cold-blooded killer has massacred thousands of unarmed civilians in the past and unless we do something to stop him, he will continue this relentless assault on innocent people. While the media and our government may be talking about Saddam Hussein, I’m talking about Ariel Sharon.

Why doesn’t our holy “War on Terrorism” include Sharon as a target? On Tuesday an American-made F-16 fired a missile into an apartment building filled with civilians. Aren’t we somewhat responsible for that? Why aren’t we denouncing our support for Israel? Why aren’t we trying to arrest Ariel Sharon for war crimes or crimes against humanity (or something like that)? Why is our leader just flapping his gums in the wind about this?
