sliced in half

The other day I remembered something that happened to me while I was living in Fargo, North Dakota. I worked and lived in Fargo’s downtown, which was cool because I was able to walk to work almost every day. One evening I as walking home from work, following my usual route down Broadway. Like any downtown, Fargo has a significant number of old, pseudo-historic buildings. As I was strolling down a sidewalk lined with such buildings, a window (make that a big-ass, antique window) came crashing down about 10 yards in front of me. I remember standing there, looking down at the glass fragments that had sprinkled on my shoes. I didn’t freak out or start crying or anything like that. I just stood there, thinking I was almost sliced in half by a gigantic window that fell out of the sky.
