my dog ate my homework

I wanted to provide some excuses about my not-so-frequent blog posts becoming “really not-so-frequent” blog posts recently. It’s the holidays so of course I’m getting swept away with shopping and the other hoopla that surrounds this time of year. I’m also working on our Christmas letter, which seems to be taking longer than other years. I guess that’s what happens when you are trying to avoid something and you only work on it for like 3 minutes a day.

Anyway, here’s a few brief updates….

I just finished a two day training seminar about Windows 2000 Advanced Server clusters. I learned some pretty cool stuff and am feeling good about getting rid of my Microsoft cluster fears. I might write some more about this technology and my experiences with it in the future.

I’m sort of working on my last “89er” article, which I hope to get in my blog notes at some point to finish up the series. I was also planning on writing a scathing note about Trent Lott, but due to the aformentioned excuses I haven’t had the time. Plus, it seems that the media is covering this issue enough that I don’t need to repeat what (hopefully) everyone has already been hearing and reading. I’ll simply say that I think Trent Lott should either resign or be thrown out of the Senate for his blatantly racist remarks. I just read on CNN.com that Lott made an almost identical remark about Strom Thurmond, the 1948 election, and “the mess we’re in today” back in 1980. The CNN article goes on to state, “But Lott said Wednesday, ‘I was 7 years old when Strom first ran for president. I don’t really remember anything about the campaign.’” Frankly, I guess this means that Lott has a strong tendency to talk out of his ass. Let’s get this guy out of office.
