lost in translation

We saw Lost in Translation tonight. Heidi thought it was mediocre, but I really enjoyed it. I’m not sure if it’s fair to say Bill Murray is an “underrated” actor since almost everyone who writes about him seems to mention this. But, I think it might be fair to say he is generally not thought of as a “serious” actor when he really should be. If you look at his performance in Rushmore and his not as prominent, but equally impressive role in The Royal Tenenbaums you’ll see what I mean. Lost in Translation is no different — he’s just dead-on. The direction, camera work, writing, and music are really good, too. Kudos to Sofia Copolla, who also directed The Virgin Suicides (another very good film). Anyway, see this movie.
