Spandex, all spandex
– Eddie Murphey, The Nutty Professor

Heidi and I finally took the plunge we’ve been talking about for the last six months and bought a couple of kick-ass road bikes. And, I think we might be on our way to actually becoming bona-fide cyclists. (And before the cynics chime in, this has absolutely nothing to do with Lance Armstrong and the Tour de France. Well, maybe a little, but we really did start talking about getting bikes long before this summer’s “Lance” media storm was whipped up.)
We’ve had our bikes for a couple of weeks now. I’ve put on just under 200 miles on mine and am completely addicted. All in all it’s kind of funny since in days past I never, ever thought I’d find myself on some “pussy-ass, skinny-tire, sissy road bike.” For some reason I always identified with the mountain bike crowd — even though I only rode my mountain bike on the street. But, times change. People change. And, apparently, their bikes change, too. Here’s what we’re riding.
