recap

April 3, 2005 &bull uncategorized

It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to post an update so here’s a quick recap of the last few months.
Heidi and I rode our first century (100 miles in one day) on February 5th in Palm Springs, CA. There were quite a few people from our bike club who did the ride. We were able to get together the night before the ride and have a nice “carb-load” dinner. I was just getting over some knee problems and a bout with the flu, but in spite of that the ride went well and we had a great time.

On February 24th the Truesdells were blessed with a baby girl — Violet Jean Truesdell. Mom, baby, dad, and brother are all doing great. I put a couple pictures of Violet, along with her brother, Jersey, in the gallery.

There’s also some photos of Heidi’s “pre” birthday party on March 5th. To celebrate Heidi’s upcoming 30th birthday we met some friends in La Jolla and enjoyed super-good Thai food at “Rice and Spice.” After dinner we went to The Comedy Store for a comedy show, which was pretty funny. Nights like that make you realize how lucky you are have a bunch of great friends.

Heidi met her mom and sisters in Las Vegas the weekend of March 26th. Heidi, Holly, and her mom all have birthdays in March so there was a lot to celebrate. :) There are some pictures of Heidi and the girls in the gallery.

While Heidi was in Las Vegas I was riding my first double century (200 miles in one day) in Solvang, CA. I made it without any major problems and was fortunate enough to not have to ride in the dark. The ride was beautiful, which helped take my mind off the fact I was on my bike for over 12 hours. The ride took us through parts of the Santa Ynez Valley wine country and the Pacific coast at Morro Bay. It was awesome — I’m looking forward to doing another double.

(BTW, I scrapped my Gentoo install about one and a half hours into it. I installed Slackware 10.1 instead. Old habits die hard, I guess.)
