I realize this information is a bit out of date, but I wanted to get it up here for (possibly) some type of historical value. I’ve been so damn busy with work lately that writing blog entries has slipped off the radar. Tangent: It’s possible the most frequently blogged topic is how busy people are and how they don’t have enough time to write. If that’s the case, why the heck do people still maintain half-baked blogs? (Click here for an example.) It’s probably because the idea of a blog is so very cool and when someone is able to pull off a good one, the results are awesome. I think personal blogs make up some of the best stuff on today’s Internet. If I have time to kill and want to just surf around and “hang out” online, I find myself spending most of that time reading blogs.

Back on topic. On March 25th Heidi and I rode a double century up in Solvang. It was Heidi’s first double (my third) and it was definitely one to remember. About 40 miles into the ride it started to rain. A lot. I realized I was pretty wet when my shoes were full of water. Fortunately, it wasn’t that cold, but I was shivering a lot when we stopped at SAG stops along the way. Once I got back on the bike, though, I warmed up.

The worst stretch was from San Luis Obispo to Morro Bay. The wind was gusting so bad that it felt like it was pushing us backwards at times. Heidi and I were in good spirits, though. We were laughing pretty hard at how ridiculous it was to be out in that kind of weather. It was great. Once we got to Morro Bay, about 100 miles into the ride, the rain stopped and we had a nice tail wind for the rest of the ride. Heidi did great — I was really proud of how well she stuck it out through the bad weather. I think she had a pretty good time and said she would be willing to ride another double at some point. As for me, I’m now turning my attention to the King of the Mountains rides.
