mulholland

I rode the Mulholland Challenge a couple of Saturdays ago. I think I’ve only ridden two other centuries, but this one was definitely the best. It was one of the hardest rides I’ve ever done — the climbs were relentless. But, it was also one of the most scenic rides I’ve ever done. It’s weird that there’s such a beautiful place that seems so remote right in the Los Angeles area. There’s a double century option that covers all of the ground we covered in the challenge (plus 90 miles). Everyone who’s ridden it in our club says it’s the hardest one they’ve done. Considering how wasted I was at the end of 110 miles, I can’t imagine how hard the double must be.

The next KOM ride,Breathless Agony, is this Saturday. Before the KOM started I was under the impression this was going to be the toughest, but some of the people who rode Mulholland (and who have ridden Breathless) say it’s not as tough. Personally, I think climbing up to 8400 feet is going to be pretty hard, but we’ll find out on for sure on Saturday.
