new york

Last week Heidi and I spent a few days in New York with our friend, Ryan, and my sister, Heather, and her husband, Sarge. Heather and Sarge were on their way to France and decided to spend a few days with Ryan. Heidi and I were originally going to meet up with them in France, but ultimately decided to postpone our Europe trip to later this year. Instead we decided to meet up in NYC and make a mini-vacation out of it.

This was our second time in New York and, like the first, it was pretty awesome. It’s by far my favorite city for so many reasons. Mainly I just like being out in the city, watching all sorts of people do all sorts of things. We didn’t do all of the tourist things this time, but we did a fair amount of sight-seeing. One morning while Heidi was at yoga, Ryan and I went to the Whitney and the International Center of Photography. The ICP was pretty cool, but I really enjoyed the Whitney. The Edward Hopper collection is great. I also enjoyed the two “modern art” floors they had.

In addition to our museum visits we also made trips to Chinatown, Little Italy, and, of course, Central Park. We also saw a great Broadway show called Avenue Q. We keep trying to talk Ryan into going into the tour guide business because he does such an awesome job of showing us around the city. With a great guide like that I think you can see a lot more (good) stuff in less time. Anyway, it was a great trip. I’m already looking forward to our next trip back.
