weekend movies

March 10, 2008 &bull movies

We watched three really good movies this weekend — “Do the Right Thing,” “No Country For Old Men,” and “American Gangster.” We had never seen “Do the Right Thing” and since I really like Spike Lee, figured it was about time. It was a little goofy at times, but we both enjoyed it.

The best part of the weekend (aside from my 98-miler on Saturday) was “No Country For Old Men.” I told Heidi when we were walking out of the the theater that I thought it was just about perfect. Granted, in some respects a Hollywood ending would have been nice, but as a film it was just awesome. I was a bit disappointed that “There Will Be Blood” didn’t get best picture at the Oscars, but after seeing NCFOM, it was evident the award went to the better picture. If you haven’t seen it yet, do it.

We capped off the weekend with “American Gangster,” which was also very good. Denzel Washington is awesome and made the movie. I also liked Russell Crowe’s character. Not the best movie ever, but an enjoyable one.
