major, major bummer

I hate it when stuff like this happens. Next to Fresh Air this is probably my favorite radio show. Now it’s gone. I don’t really know too much about the people who work on the show, but I’m under the impression they are young, progressive, smart, and have a good sense of humor. The folks at the BPP have been able to pull off a news-based morning program that doesn’t take itself too seriously. And, perhaps what I like the most, is that it’s completely integrated with the Internet. (Many of the segments have to do with what’s going on on the web and/or on the BPP blog, etc.)

I guess I’d like to include myself in the group of those who are interested in the world around us, yet are cool enough to have a good time while diving into it. Don’t get me wrong, I love NPR. I mean, love it. But, I’m pissed that they are getting rid of one of their newest, best shows that’s probably making some major headway in the 20-30 year-old crowd. A crowd they desperately need. Sure, budgets are tight and the economy currently sucks, but, hell, pull the plug on Day-to-day or one of the other 27 shows that are about the same thing, catering to the same audience. Anyway, enough ranting. RIP BPP.
