My friend Keith and I saw the new Star Trek movie two nights ago. We’ve been joking around at work for the last couple weeks, calling it “Star Track”. We’re trying to find that one trekkie who’ll freak and keep correcting us. So far, though, we haven’t had anyone bite. (Which is weird, considering there’s a fair (huge?) amount of nerds at Qualcomm.)
Back to the movie… it was pretty awesome. I wouldn’t really consider myself a big fan of Star Trek, but I found myself really enjoying the movie and some of the nods to the previous movie/series. The movie’s style is also very cool. It’s got all of the whiz-bang effects you’d expect, but still has this 70s feel to it. I think the music and camera angles, etc. are mainly responsible for this. I think I need to see it again, though, in order to digest everything. I’m looking forward to seeing it on Blu-Ray.
