It seems like my blog was hacked yesterday around 11:30am. As far as I can tell all that happened was the index.php file got replaced with something less interesting than the one you’re currently using to read this. Here are my current theories about what happened.
- The WordPress version I was using had some major security flaw that was exploited by (most likely) a script being run from another infected host
- The web server I’m using (via A2 hosting) got compromised
- My friend Keith, who alerted me to the problem, is actually a Turkish hacker and is responsible for defacing my blog
