OK, I’ve got the race, now I just need the bike. Actually, I got that a few weeks ago.

In order to make space I said goodbye to my beloved, but completely neglected RockHopper, which I think cost around $700.00 when I bought it in the mid 90s. I remember feeling so guilty for buying such an expensive bike. If I could run up to that version of Matt in the Scheels’ parking lot and tell him that someday he would give away the bike he was loading into his Mercury Tracer and replace it with a bike that cost nearly 4.3 times as much, he probably would have laughed (nervously) and made a note to himself that, under no circumstances, should he let his future wife talk him into giving his brand new bike away. Of course, it wouldn’t have worked.

Past history and time-travel aside, I’ve finally got a proper time-trial bike, a Look 576. I’ve only got 50 miles on it so I’ve barely gotten to know her, but I do know she’s pretty fast. I hope it lasts as long as the RockHopper.
